Sibyl is a duo from New York City, formed by two sisters whose rich musical heritage and classical training come together to create a sound that is at once timeless and refreshingly new. Drawing inspiration from the ancient tradition of the Sibyls—prophetic women of the ancient world who foretold the future through poetry and song—Sibyl blends their love for storytelling with their classical foundations to both reimagine folk music into a contemporary, emotive light, and write original compositions that make innovative use of two soprano voices. .

Born into a family of Broadway performers, sisters Chloe and Lily Holgate were immersed in music and storytelling from a young age. Their upbringing in the vibrant cultural heart of New York City, combined with their extensive training in classical music, set the stage for a unique musical journey that would ultimately lead them to create Sibyl. With a shared passion for narrative-driven music, the duo began composing their own songs, combining their classical expertise with the folk tradition to craft arrangements that are both intricate and accessible.

Sibyl has performed on chamber music series around the northeast, at rock music venues around the city and many house concerts for small audiences- their favorite venue!  Sibyl has been a resident artist at Avaloch Music Institute and in 2022 they were winners of WNYC's Public Song Project. Early this year they will begin recording their debut album at Tiny Panther Studio in Brooklyn, NY.
